The design of the interior spaces of this new Colorado custom home centered around the theme of spatial fluidity.
This concept intertwines function, aesthetics and easy-going circulation for adults, kids and guests. A main objective to this architectural design, is the unobstructed open space (46) feet wide and 22' high, achieved by the design of scissor trusses.
These trusses were engineered specifically for this project, along with our specification for decorative steel connection plates. As well, the finish color of gray reflects the same gray on the fireplace wall, with a stain that also allows for some of the grain in the wood truss to be exposed with it’s natural beauty.
The kitchen, dining room and family room are homogenous spaces that enjoy a comfortable volume ceiling, through-the-home views out windows and large glass doors and the warmth of a fireplace too. These exterior folding glass doors can provide 12’ wide of open-air space from the family room to the entertainment deck.
The flooring is 6” wide engineered and pre-finished for strength, durability and efficient installation. Originally Pratt & Lambert (started business in 1849) and now Sherwin Williams Emerald Designer Edition interior paint was used on the ceiling and walls, with the same color for the ceiling, but a 50% darker tint.
As well, our lighting designs were coordinated with one of our consultants. This included optimizing energy efficiency, targeted task lighting, select color rendition and dimmer capabilities for atmosphere preferences and light fixture design characteristics.

The tv above the fireplace is mounted with an articulating arm that can provide a swivel angle so that while at the kitchen sink or dining room table, viewing can easily be enjoyed. Kitchen cabinets have a clean look without any hardware and instead finger kerfs at the underside of the doors. The Lady of the home has a desk and shelves, for her cookbooks and recipe writings.
